Corporate Seal Overview
A corporate seal, also known as a company seal or corporate embosser, is a stamp or embosser that is custom-made for your company and usually includes the name of your business, the year of its incorporation, and the state in which your company was incorporated. Corporate seals in the past were imprinted on wax upon a document. Today, most corporate seals are embossed upon a document.
The corporate seal is a tool (usually metal) used to “stamp” or “emboss” your company’s important documents. When a document is “stamped” it shows that the company’s Board of Directors have certified and agreed to the contents of the document.
Uses of Corporate Seals
A company seal (sometimes referred to as the corporate seal or common seal) is an official seal used by a company. A corporate seal should be used when a company needs to give formal authorization on a document. In most cases, only one top-level company executive or a company’s board of directors will approve the use of a corporate seal.
Obtaining a Corporate Seal
To obtain a corporate seal: Register the corporation with the state since they govern corporations. Visit office supply stores and design the seal. Then, choose and purchase an embosser.
