Guide for Website Editing
Whether new or seasoned web developer, this guide gives website editing instructions for all skill levels. Effective editing means navigating the website builder tool well. We will show how to edit pages with Website Builder.
To begin edits, first access the tool. Click the file name to edit. Re-upload the file, replacing the old one. Changes should now reflect on your live site.
You can also edit server files with Notepad++. It is a Windows editor with FTP capabilities. The system is cloud-based, connecting to your host through your browser. When you publish pages it automatically uploads content to your hosting account.
Instructions for Changing Hosting
To move a website to a new host, first join the new provider. You will migrate everything from the old to the new host. Changing hosts must be done carefully. You can upgrade a server anytime by contacting your host.
With cPanel you can install, update, and manage your CMS. You can install plugins, update themes, and create backups, all within cPanel.
When uploading files, simply click and drag into the folder you wish to upload to. As soon as a file is on the server, it’s available for all to see.
To force your computer to resolve a domain from a specific IP, overriding public DNS, add records to your local hosts file. You can then work on your website hosted on the new server while the old one stays public. We recommend closing the browser before changing the hosts file.
