The dog’s name is Friday. Friday is a Jack Russell Terrier adopted by the main characters, Andi and Bruce.
Nearly 70 dogs were used in the filming of Hotel for Dogs, many of which were rescued from animal shelters. Several were adopted by crew members after filming ended. The dogs featured include:
- Lenny the Bullmastiff
- Georgia the Boston Terrier
- Cooper the Bulldog
- Shep the Border Collie
- Romeo the Chinese Crested Dog
- Juliet the Poodle
- Henry the Beauceron
Troy Gentile plays Mark, a kid eager to help with the dogs.
In the book, Andi and Bruce’s parents are alive. In the movie, their parents are dead and they live in a foster home. The book centers on Andi and Bruce finding Friday as a puppy.
The film is not based on a true story. There is only one Hotel for Dogs movie released in 2009, and it is rated PG. Cosmo, who played Friday, was adopted after filming.
