Johnny Lawrence’s Father and Upbringing
Johnny’s father left when he was five years old. His mother then married Sid Weinberg, who verbally abused Johnny. At age 17, Johnny began studying martial arts after being beaten by bullies under the guidance of John Kreese. There are theories about Kreese possibly being Johnny’s real father, which could explain Kreese’s interest in both Johnny and his son Robby. In 2018, Johnny, now 52 years old, still struggles with anger issues from his difficult past.
Robby’s Relationship with Johnny and Miguel
Robby is Johnny’s son, but due to Johnny’s absence during much of Robby’s childhood, their relationship is strained. Robby initially starts off as a teen criminal and dropout, in contrast to Miguel who is a bullied kid. Despite their differences, Miguel becomes a father figure to Johnny and tries to reconnect with Robby. The story develops with Robby forming a relationship with Daniel and learning Miyagi-Do’s story, as tensions escalate within the Cobra Kai group leading to an all-out dojo brawl.
