Pure Barre was founded in 2001 by Carrie Rezabek Dorr, who opened the first location in an office basement in Birmingham, Michigan. It started as a small boutique studio focusing on barre classes targeting areas like the thighs, hips and abs. The technique worked so well that Pure Barre grew to over 550 locations across North America. In April 2018, Pure Barre ranked No. 147 on Entrepreneurs’ Franchise 500 list.
Christina Russell is the current CEO of Pure Barre. She was previously President of Camp Bow Wow.
The company is now owned by Xponential Fitness after being acquired in October 2019.
